Understanding vehicle safety technology

Many drivers are uncertain about vehicle safety technology. A study found that drivers had uncertainty and confusion with technologies such as traction control, cruise control, forward collision warning, blind spot alert, backup cameras, adaptive cruise control, tire pressure monitoring systems, lane departure warning systems and anti-lock braking systems.

The University of Iowa and the National Safety Council have created a national awareness campaign called MyCarDoesWhat, which aims to inform drivers about their car’s safety features to make them safer drivers.
